Lon Chaney Sr's Phantom of the Opera from the 1925 silent version of the film. Great movie and Lon Chaney is my favorite Phantom (as hot as Gerald Butler is...he did not capture the monster side of Eric)
Also...because I have heard the comment "How do you make a silent film of a musical?" The musical version of this story was not created until the 80s
