Dragon Sanctuary: Scroll 0
Long before life began, three bare orbs of what would become planets floated in the spaces between heaven and hell, the world of good and the world of evil. The beings of good lived peacefully in their land of water that flowed like air; the two purest forms of nature rolled together to give life to these angels who swam like fish. These mer-angels followed the rule of Aranshi, their gentle queen who granted her daughters the power to bestow water and air to the dead planets they watched over. The eldest of her daughters, Mera, decided to allow these elements a life of their own so they survive without the help of the Heavens. She chose the middle planet which they had named Mysternia; here the dragon goddesses were born. As these proud dragons watched over their oceans and breathed life into their atmosphere, trouble began to stir elsewhere.
The beings of evil that dwelled in the layers of Hell grew envious. These planets were not Aranshis to own and for all that good she had placed on them, it was only fair if there was evil to balance it. The demon king, Ryaku sent his demons to Mysternia to create earth to stop the flowing waters and fire to grow where winds blew. The gods and goddesses battled between themselves: Waters drenched fires, mountains stood against winds rage and the forces of nature battled across the face of the planet. The four dragons battled for dominance of the tiny planet as their creators watched silently from their kingdoms. These wars continued until one day, the twin dragons of the sun and moon intervened and forced harmony amongst their fellow deities. The twins separated the deities from their elements as well as detaching their spirits from their beast forms. They no longer had supreme control over their elements and instead watched from the spirit world like judges. The earth no longer stopped the water, instead the water flowed over and around it putting out flames that the wind would soon raise again. The goddesses of the sun and moon smiled upon their brothers and sisters as they remained in the sky.
The beast forms of the dragon deities remained on the peaceful planet and soon they traveled in heards with their own kin. The descendants of the Fire Dragons burrowed deep under the planets crust in complex underground caverns uninhabitable by humans. Dragons of air flew high in the mountains where only birds can reach them and earth dragons strive in the deep forests and valleys. Water dragons dove deep beneath the waves and created their home in the depths of the oceans. They grew with their environment and helped nurture the budding life forms that soon grew from the world. The twin dragons took their turn watching from above; the sun gave life power to grow during the day and the moon allowed them the peace to rest and recover.
Mera watched the planet from her home as the harmony was balanced over the newborn lands. She grew weary at this peace; she knew the demons would not be pleased with the intervention of the sun and moon. Even though they both preached balance, they were both creations of Meras mother and this tipped the scale of good and evil to the advantage of the heavens. She knew something would have to be done before something terrible happened. Against her mothers will, she traveled to the Kingdom of Hell and demanded an audience with their king. An agreement was made between the two kingdoms that they would each put a human on the planet; this would allow a force to act against nature and realign the scales. The fine print forbid the interaction of the cosmic world and the material world; the Kingdoms would have their hands off the forces on these creatures and the balance would restore itself naturally. Ryaku allowed this agreement but twisted it to his own liking; the princess Mera never made it home to her mother to tell her the news. The contract kept the deities from interfering but unlike Arashi, Ryakus demons were not his kin and not binded by this contract. With the power he syphoned from Meras body, Ryaku unleashed his kingdom unto the planet where Meras soul morphed into a goddesses of evil, Ghouleona.
She walked amongst the humans who were only beginning to grow. She traveled the world, poisoning its waters and destroying the life she encountered. With no other opinions, the sun goddess broke herself in two, keeping her spirit in the sky and sending her body to the land. As the world suffered Ghouleonas wrath, the sun dragon brought life to the places she went. As humans flourished, she brought them animals for their use and magical beings like elves for them to ally with. She strengthened the blood of the dragons who lived with them and begged for their help. The dragons created their own land and here started the Draconians; men born from the spirit and magic of the dragon gods. These powerful humanoids protected and aided the humans as the dragons returned to their homes; if they interfered, harmony would be broken in nature. Ghouleona continued her destruction than went to the north when she discovered what the dragons had done. Here she poisoned a barbaric race known as the Huskanians, humanoids who grew from wolves, with evil from her own blood. As the Huskies raged war against the Draconians, Ghouleona turned her revenge to the dragons themselves. She drove them from their homes and tortured the beasts she captured; those she couldnt catch, she sent droves of demons after. Humans sat in the middle of the chaos, ignored by these forces of evil. This allowed their societies to grow large and strong across all the lands. What they lacked in magic and strength, they made up with population. The sun goddess smiled upon these simple people and blessed their leader, Vaeln Kiata. The dragons, who now found themselves in dire need, lent their power to this Vaeln and sent him a powerful dragon to aid him. This dragon was named Feynir and had within him the combined powers of the four dragon gods. The humans joined Feynir and Vaeln against Ghouleona and together weakened her. Feynir trapped her in a crystal and cast it to the heavens to be protected. In vengeance of her death, the surviving demons rose against Feynir and destroyed him. This cracked the seal over the crystal carrying Ghouleona. Lacking the power to fix it, the moon goddess encased the crystal and cast it into the Cosmos. The dragons mourned Feynirs loss and together with the sun goddess, forged a sword from his fangs. This was a gift to the brave Vaeln Kiata who fought as one with Feynir and saved his world. Knowing the seal would one day crack open once more, the twins cast the Fang of Feynir to a sacred sanctuary protected by the moon goddess. The day that seal cracked, a Kiata would rise again and destroy her with this sword.
The wars between the Draconians and Huskanians slowly drew itself to a painful end. The Huskies took their survivors and escaped to the bitter north. The proud Draconians took their victory to heart and returned to their isolated island. The world stood in a still silence, knowing they would live in a shadow of fear. The sun dragon turned herself into a human and while incognito, stayed at the side of the Kiata family. The Kiatas knew their place and lived like kings, carefully preparing each of their sons for what they might become. The moon goddess wait paitently in the Sanctuary of Feynir, awaiting the dawn of the Dragon Master who would raise against the reawakened Ghouleona
